چکیده

Application of nonlinearity continuation method to numerical solution steady-state groundwater flow in variably saturated conditions is presented. In order solve the system nonlinear equations obtained by finite volume discretization Richards equation, a series problems with increasing are solved using Newton method. This approach compared pseudo-transient on several test cases, including real site and involving parallel computations.

Efficient Steady-State Solution Techniques for Variably Saturated Groundwater Flow

We consider the simulation of steady-state variably saturated groundwater flow using Richards’ equation (RE). The difficulties associated with solving RE numerically are well known. Most discretization approaches for RE lead to nonlinear systems that are large and difficult to solve. The solution of nonlinear systems for steadystate problems can be particularly challenging, since a good initial...

Correction to "Steady-state saturated groundwater flow modeling with full tensor conductivities using finite differences"

We present a new three-dimensional steady-state saturated groundwater-flow forward-simulator with full conductivity tensors using a nineteen-points block-centered finite-difference method. Hydraulic conductivity tensors are defined at the block interfaces eliminating the need to average conductivity tensors at adjacent blocks to approximate their values at the interfaces. The capabilities of th...

Well bore boundary conditions for variably saturated ̄ow modeling

Well bore boundary conditions are incorporated in a three-dimensional ®nite element model that solves the variably saturated groundwater ̄ow equation. One-dimensional line elements, which are used to discretize the ̄ow equation along the well screen, are superimposed onto three-dimensional porous media elements. The use of line elements allows the inclusion of well bore storage e€ects, and also...

Nonstationary stochastic analysis of steady state flow through variably saturated, heterogeneous media

In this study we develop a first-order, nonstationary stochastic model for steady state, unsaturated flow in randomly heterogeneous media. The model is applicable to the entire domain of a bounded vadose zone, unlike most of the existing stochastic models. Because of its nonstationarity, we solve it by the numerical technique of finite differences, which renders the flexibility in handling diff...

Time Integration and Steady-state Continuation Method for Lubrication Equations

The partial di erential equations describing the evolution of thin liquid lms on solid substrates in lubrication approximation are highly non-linear. Thus, the classical semi-implicit time integrator with a constant linear part fails due to a strong variation of the Jacobian between two consecutive time-steps. We propose to integrate the equations using an exponential propagation. This method r...
